A suffix is a word ending. The following is a list of 10 common English suffixes.
| Suffix | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| -ed | past | Yesterday he planted flowers. |
| -ing | present participle | She is talking. |
| -ly | adverb | They worked quickly. |
| -s, -es | plural | books, watches |
| -able, -ible | something you can do | countable (meaning that you can count it) |
| -en | made of | wooden (made of wood) |
| -ful | full of | careful (full of care) |
| -ist | person | chemist (person who does chemistry) |
| -less | without | fearless (without fear) |
| -ive, -tive | adjective form | creative (adjective form of the verb "create") |
Use one of the suffixes from the table above with a word from the box below to form a new word.
