In the previous lesson, we studied the words two, to, and too. These words are homophones, words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings. There are many homophones in English. The following is a list of some common homophones in English.
ate - past tense of "eat" buy - to get something by paying money see - to look at something with your eyes four - 4 here - in this place hour - a period of 60 minutes |
knew - past tense of "know" know - to have information or understanding son - a male child they're - contraction of "they" and "are" where - used to ask about a place write - to make letters or words |
Select the word that best completes the sentence.
Write sentences using a pair of homophones.
Example:
I knew the answer to the question.
I bought a new dress.
