How do you pronounce the letter L in English?

When we pronounce the letter L, the tongue touches the roof of the mouth, just behind the teeth. The letter L has the phonetic sound /l/. Click on the audio link below to listen and repeat the sound.

How do you pronounce the letter R in English?

To pronounce the letter R in English, the lips are rounded and the middle of the tongue is raised slightly. Unlike the letter L, the R does not require the tongue to touch the roof of the mouth. The letter R has the phonetic sound /r/.
